COMMUNITY BORE WELLS
Community bore water wells provide a reliable source of clean and safe water to rural communities where access is often limited. These wells reduce the need for long and difficult journeys to collect water, improve health by preventing waterborne diseases, and support daily life—from drinking and cooking to farming and hygiene. More than just infrastructure, each bore well restores dignity, strengthens livelihoods, and creates lasting, sustainable impact for generations.

Hand Pumps
Hand pumps provide a simple yet powerful solution to water scarcity in rural communities. By delivering clean and accessible water directly to households, they reduce dependence on unsafe sources and long travel distances. These hand pumps improve health, support daily living, and enable families to focus on education and livelihoods—creating a sustainable and lasting impact.

One Water Well drop at a time
Access to clean, safe water is not a privilege — it’s a basic human right. Around the world, millions of families still face daily struggles to find clean water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.
The Little Kindness Foundation (LKF) is committed to changing that reality through the LKF Global Clean Water Project — a mission to provide sustainable, long-term water solutions to vulnerable communities.
Globally, approximately 2.2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water, 3.5 billion lack safely managed sanitation, and 1.7 billion lack basic handwashing facilities. Millions of people, often women and girls, spend hours collecting water, which prevents them from attending school or earning an income. Millions more are affected by water stress, and climate change is expected to worsen these statistics.
Global Clean Water Pot (CWP) – Every Drop of Kindness Counts
Not every donor can fund an entire water pump or well — but every contribution still changes lives. The Global CWP (Clean Water Pot) is a collective funding pot that pools smaller donations to support our clean water initiatives worldwide.
Every pound added to the Clean Water Pot helps:
- Purchase essential materials, filters, and parts for community water projects.
- Contribute toward the construction or repair of hand pumps and wells.
- Fund logistics, site surveys, and maintenance to ensure long-term sustainability.
Together, these smaller gifts make a powerful impact — turning many drops of kindness into a river of hope for families and schools without access to clean, safe water.

Regional Disparities
Sub-Saharan Africa is the most affected region.
Progress in rural areas has improved in some places, but access in urban areas has remained stagnant or decreased in others.
The rates of progress needed to achieve universal access by 2030 would have to increase by three to six times the current rate.
Drinking water
2.2 billion people lack safely managed drinking water services.
Sanitation
3.5 billion people lack safely managed sanitation services.
Hygiene
1.7 billion people lack basic handwashing facilities with soap and water at home.
Surface Water
115 million people drink water directly from untreated surface sources.
Education
447 million children attend schools without a reliable supply of clean water.
Health
Lack of access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene contributes to millions of deaths each year and is a major factor in global malnutrition.
Economic Impact
Time spent collecting water could be used for income-generating activities or education, perpetuating a cycle of poverty.
Gender Inequality
Women and girls are disproportionately affected, spending hours collecting water and facing dangers like sexual assault, while also missing out on educational and economic opportunities.
Vulnerability
Climate change is exacerbating water stress, with an additional 1 billion people projected to live with extremely high water stress by 2050.
